Proudly Supporting Macmillan Coffee Morning, One Sip at a Time

Residents Enjoying MacMillan Morning

Amberley Care Home proudly raised their coffee cups this week, to join in with one of the UK’s most important breakfast clubs, Macmillan’s Coffee Morning.

Macmillan.org.uk shares the stark reminder that “One in two of us will face cancer, and the money you raise at your Coffee Morning will help everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.” Amberley Care Home devotes itself to promoting a way of life that balances medical and wellbeing care to all its residents, the Macmillan cause is therefore, one that is close to their hearts and one they are proud to be able to join in and support.

Macmillan is a lifeline for anyone living with cancer; they invest their time and support in people who need to live their lives as fully as possible. Their personalised help is focused on each individual person, so everyone receives the support that’s best suited for them. From providing Support Workers who help patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer through to hosting health and wellbeing events, Macmillan is ready to help every step of the way.

Coffee & Cake at Amberley Care Home

On Friday 24th September 2021 the staff and residents of Amberley Care Home came together to host their very own Coffee & Cake Morning. One of the beautiful communal Dining Rooms was decorated in Macmillan branded tablecloths and collection boxes placed on each table as residents and carers were able to sit back and enjoy hot cups of coffee and an array of delicious bakes. In exchange for a donation, residents treated themselves to slices of gooey brownie, indulgent chocolate fudge cake and melt in the mouth lemon drizzle.

Games for Staff & Residents

In addition to the sweet treats on offer, Amberley Care Home also hosted an exciting raffle. Staff and residents each bought a raffle ticket in the hope of winning the giant teddy bear that has been residing in the Reception area for the last year. Our wonderful Care Assistant Jayde was the lucky winner of the cuddly bear - well done Jayde!

How It Helps

After a hugely successful morning, the staff and residents raised an amazing £91.65.

“We understand how cancer can affect people’s whole lives – health, money, family, job; everything. And, after more than 100 years of caring, we understand that the most important thing is to treat people as individuals, not patients.”

At Amberley Care Home, everyone understands the positive impact any support can have, no matter how big or small. Macmillan states that just £71 could help run their Online Community forum for over 3 hours. Or how, £350 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together. Amberley Care Home are proud to play a part in supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and knowing that their donation is making a difference.

If you’re looking for a care home to support you or a loved one, Amberley Care Home offers unrivalled levels of care; please do not hesitate to get in touch to find out more, book a tour or meet our wonderful team.
