Spring is in the Air at Amberley
Spring has most certainly sprung at Amberley Care Home, with many of our activities so far this month taking a more nature-related theme as well as incorporating lots of Easter fun.
Painting
We regularly hold arts and crafts sessions for our residents that often have a different theme, focus material, or are for a special celebration. Our resident artists recently enjoyed an afternoon doing their own version of the Water Colour Challenge.
Using water colour paints and outlined pictures of nature scenes, the residents got to use their creativity to produce their very own water colour masterpieces.
Arts and crafts have an abundance of benefits, such as allowing residents to creatively express themselves and stimulates both their minds and bodies. The end results always give residents such a sense of pride and self-achievement, and we love displaying their artwork around the home for all to admire.
Egg & Spoon Race
Easter wouldn't be Easter without an old-fashioned egg and spoon race. Once residents and staff had gotten past the excitement of the chocolate eggs and Easter treats, we settled down for a classic egg and spoon race, which residents were thrilled to take part in. It was a great opportunity for everyone to have some light-hearted fun and a laugh together.
Gardening Club
Our new Gardening Club has been a resounding success so far and always proves to be such a happy time for our green-fingered residents.
When the weather is a little chilly outside the club is held indoors, but we are all very ready to welcome the sun and are keen to get outdoors for some pottering in our private gardens.
Our residents have done a wonderful job already at potting some plants and flowers ready to brighten up our gardens for spring and next month we hope to get our Sunflower Growing Competition started.
Mixed Berry Protein Shots
We had a challenge to use beetroot this month in the kitchen. So, we decided to do something fun for the residents, staff and relatives that were visiting the home and we made a game called "guess the hidden ingredient".
We created a mixed berry protein shot with a hidden dash of beetroot and asked people if they could guess the extra ingredient. The shots were both delicious and nutritious and went down a treat. Everyone who guessed it right won a prize too!
