February’s Activities

A resident and staff member at Amberley Care Home

We have had a great month at Amberley Care Home full of activities and events, planned and hosted by our wonderful Activities Team.

We thought it would be a good idea to introduce our Activities Team and give an insight into the 'behind the scenes' of who it is that provides our residents with regular, stimulating activity options and allows them to enjoy a rich, fulfilling, and meaningful life.

Our Activities Team

Our Activities Team consists of three lovely ladies; Lisa, Cheryl, and Sam. They work tirelessly to ensure our residents have the opportunity to partake in numerous activities and events each day. Whether it be an arts & crafts session, a trip out into the local community, a visit from entertainers and animals, or enjoying some board games with like-minded individuals, nothing is too much to oraganise for these ladies. They adapt the programme regularly to ensure it incorporates the interests and hobbies of residents, and that there is something that for all to enjoy. Lisa, Cheryl, and Sam, thank you for what you do!

Valentine's Day

Love was certainly in the air this Valentine's Day at Amberley Care Home. Our residents celebrated in style by enjoying themed Valentine's food, cupcakes, music, and more. The home was decorated accordingly and definitely got everybody feeling romantic and happy. Our married couple within the home enjoyed a romantic meal for two, with a private table and a delicious array of food from our kitchen team.

Live Music Afternoon

As part of our full activities programme, we try to host regular live music afternoons for residents and their loved ones to enjoy in the comfort of our home. We had an entertainer come in recently and play for our residents and staff. Music is a great form of therapy for residents; as it provides them with physical stimulation and in some cases reminiscence. Residents thoroughly enjoyed their time, singing and dancing along with the entertainer and also spending quality time with each other. We often invite residents' loved ones to get involved with life at the home and enjoy the facilities and activities we have to offer too.

Baking Buddies

In February, we continued our group baking sessions, known as our Baking Buddies group. This month, they made rice crispy cakes for them and other residents to enjoy- they were a favourite amongst all! We give our residents the choice of what they would like to bake, so they don't only make something delicious, but also something they want to eat too.

At Amberley Care Home, we look to incorporate residents' much-loved hobbies into their daily lives as it contributes to maintaining their routine, filling their days with what they love, reminiscing on memories, and pursuing new interests. We also understand the benefits of socialising with different groups of people and forming new bonds, as well as providing opportunities for residents to make something they can be proud of.
